Following are answers to some frequently asked questions about our outdoor mist cooling systems. If you do not find answers to your questions here, please email your inquiry to Email

Absolutely. We offer secure online payment through Yahoo! Store accepting Visa, MasterCard, Diners Club, and Yahoo! Wallet. All online transactions through Yahoo! Store are handled with industry-standard SSL encryption (the same as most banks and brokerages).

When you enter your credit card number into the order form, it is transmitted in an encrypted (scrambled) form, then decoded when it gets to us.

According to CNN, "...on-line credit card use is actually no riskier for consumers than traditional "low-tech" transactions."

We order products online all the time, both as a company and as individuals. When we use a credit card to buy something online, we feel at least as safe as we would using one in a store or restaurant and much safer than ordering by phone.

Your order will normally ship the same or next business day (depending on when you place the order) via the method you have chosen. We will choose the courier most suitable for your order. We use UPS, FedEx, and USPS for most orders.

"Next Day Air" should arrive 2 business days from the day you place your order (ships next business day plus 1 day in transit).

"2nd Day Air" should arrive 3 business days from the day you place your order (ships next business day plus 2 days in transit).

"3 Day Select" should arrive 4 business days from the day you place your order (ships next business day plus 3 days in transit).

For "Ground" shipping, please allow up to 6 business days from the day you place your order.

When we are able, we will provide tracking numbers so you can check on your shipment online. If you do not receive a tracking number and you feel that your package is late, please contact us at

We offer 2 kinds of outdoor cooling systems, perimeter misting systems and misting fan systems.

Our perimeter misting systems employ evaporative cooling to cool and condition the environment. Using our proprietary misting nozzles, an ultra fine mist is introduced into the area. The mist quickly evaporates removing heat from and cooling the surrounding air (up to 20 to 25 degrees). It also helps clean and humidify the air, as well as, repel flying insects.

Our misting fans combine evaporative cooling (misting) with convective cooling (moving air) for maximum cooling (up to 30 degrees).

Perimeter misting can reduce temperatures up to 25 degrees...misting fans, as much as 30 degrees. For an idea of the cooling effects of misting vs, relative humidity, please see the chart at
How Much Does It Cool?

Our 3/8" low-pressure systems can handle up to 62 nozzles (124 feet) at 90 psi (about the highest household water pressure). Our 1/2" systems can be expanded to about 54 nozzles at 90 psi.

Our mid-pressure systems can support as many as 30 nozzles.

We offer a range of high-pressure pumps. Our most economical (#400) can support up to 22 nozzles. Our largest stock pump can handle up to 80 nozzles or up to 10, 24" misting fans each. Systems can be expanded beyond those limits with the use of multiple pumps or higher capacity, special order pumps.

Please see our nozzle chart at
How Many Nozzles?

We recommend 24 inches between heads.

A 45 degree angle away from the area to be cooled works best with the least amount of residule moisture.

Yes! We offer a full line of professional, mid & high-pressure misting equipment, including perimeter misting systems, misting fan systems, portable sideline systems for sports, and much more.

We also carry a full line of professional components for assembling "custom kits" to meet your areas specs. Whatever the application (residential, sports, commercial, or industrial) we have the right equipment.

If you are uncertain about which system is right for you, please see our design page at
Need Help Designing Your System?

Based on the information that we request there, we will recommend the right solution for your area. Whether it is one of our existing, do-it-yourself kits, an existing kit with extensions, or a professional, high-pressure "custom kit" we'll provide everything you need from faucet to mist.

Our low-pressure systems do not utilize a pump. They operate on your household water pressure.

Our 3/8" low-pressure systems can be expanded to 62 (124 feet) nozzles at 90 psi of household water pressure.

Our 1/2" low-pressure systems can be expanded to 54 (108 feet) nozzles at 90 psi of household water pressure.

Our mid-pressure systems use a mid-pressure (160 psi/.5 gpm) pump. They can handle a maximum of 24 nozzles (36 feet) and produce finer mist than low-pressure systems. The finer the mist, the more efficiently it evaporates and cools, and the less residule moisture it produces.

Our high-pressure systems utilize 1000 to 1500 psi pumps (with volumes of .5 to 2.3 gpm), high pressure feed lines, and stainless steel misting lines. They produce extremely fine mist that cools more efficiently than either low or mid-pressure systems, with even less residual moisture. These are the best systems for cooling areas where residule moisture is an issue and the only, single system choice for areas requiring more than 62 nozzles.

High-pressure fans create a finer mist that cools more effectively with less residule moisture.

Our high-pressure systems are the best outdoor cooling systems available. They are used in restaurants, theme parks, sporting events...virtually any outdoor venue to make inhospitable environments cool and comfortable with the minimum of residual moisture. If you want the best, this is it.

The 3/8" systems are not designed to withstand mid or high pump pressures. They are for use with household water pressures only.

No. Our mid-pressure pumps can be used to extend our 1/2" systems to 54 nozzles, but even our least powerful high-pressure pump at 1000 psi will cause them to come apart.

Unfortunately, PVC systems fail at about 500 psi, so even our least powerful high-pressure pump at 1000 psi will cause it to come apart. You can use our 160 psi, mid-pressure pump (at http://store.yahoo.com/patiocomforts/higpresboosp.html) with a PVC system. The mid-pressure pump will give you a finer mist, more efficient cooling, and less residule moisture, but it will be limited to a maximum of 24 nozzles.

The number of nozzles that a system can handle is dependent on 3 factors: 1) water pressure (psi/pounds per square inch), 2) maximum water source volume (gpm/gallons per minute), and 3) nozzle volume (gph/gallons per hour).

Of the 3 factors, water volume is the most significant because the difference in water volume between low-pressure systems and pressurized systems is so great. The average volume of household water is about 6 to 10 gpm. Our mid-pressure pump has a volume of .5 gpm. Our high-pressure pumps have volumes ranging from .5 to 2.3 gpm.

Household water's much higher volume permits a greater number of nozzles despite the effects of the other 2 factors. That's why our low-pressure systems, which use household water, can be extended to more nozzles than our mid-pressure systems and some of our high-pressure systems.

In simplest terms, outdoor cooling works best when evaporative cooling (misting) is combined with convective cooling (moving air). The mist heads cool the air nearby and the breeze (or fan) carries the cooled air into the area to be cooled. That's why perimeter misting works best in areas with a breeze (or a fan). The ocean is a great example. Firm breezes blow across the evaporating water, providing nature's best cooling.

If there is no breeze, it's best to add a fan or fans to create a breeze.

The ideal situation is to have a perimeter system AND misting fans. The combination produces maximum results in any situation and the fans help the perimeter misters in times when it is too calm.

If you need to go with one or the other, go with misting fans, as they work well in calm AND windy conditions.

If misting fans are outside your budget, use a perimeter system. Up to 20 degrees cooler is a good thing, too.

We are authorized distributors of Cloudburst, Cool Draft, Mist & Cool, and Mist 'n Go outdoor cooling products and Arctic, SoJoe, and Whalen outdoor heating products. We sell online only, delivered directly to your home or business. Some stores in some areas may carry some of the products that we offer, but most items will not be available locally.

We currently ship to the 50 U.S. States. In certain circumstances (i.e., to U.S. military personnel overseas, professional systems to foreign contractors, etc.), we will consider shipping our outdoor cooling systems outside the U.S. In any case, cannot currently ship our outdoor heaters outside the 50 U.S. states.
